Welcome to the Guide, fatdan.
First off, get yourself a copy of the Sierra manual. It has a great section in it specifically on loading for semi-auto service rifles. It will explain the do's and dont's about powder selection and functioning issues to avoid damaging the action.
First question: What is the barrel's rate of twist? That will tell you what weight of bullet is most likely to perform best.
Next question: Hunting or target? If you are going to use it to hunt, what game and what ranges? If target, what ranges?
