    Question 357 ruger security 6 (6"barrel)

Looking for a starting load for that gun with 158 gr swc hp. I really don't fell like freezing my butt off going through a lot of different loads.

    6.0 to 6.5gr of Unique/Universal in a 357 case.
7.0 should be about max, be cautious.

These loads have been good with swaged and range lead for me; unlike slower powders.

You took the words right out of my mouth kg. I buy Unique by the big jug. I have loaded them with up to the max of 8.2gr, but find better accuracy around 7gr.

Try some 125grJHP's in it too, your revolver may show a marked preference for one over the other. (7.6-9.3grMax, around 8gr should work well.)

Even though that's a strong revolver you're shooting, be careful if you work up to near max loads in really cold weather, they can go overpressure when summer rolls around.
