H4831 vs. H4831 SC

Hey gang-
I recently found some old stock, (cardboard cannister) H4831 on a deal. While I still see it listed, a lot of my manuals have the SC data only listed. Are the two powders alike enough, (with the exception of kernel length), to interchange the load data? I am cautious enough to start low & work up, just wondering if I'd be starting low enough. Thanks in advance.

They are as close to identical as you can get. So my Chrony tells me.

For me they are so close to identical, I have used them interchangably. I have even mixed the end of a jar of 4831 with a 1/2 jar of 4831sc .
The rounds loaded from that mix shot with no differance in target groups or aiming point.

Be aware that between lots of any powder there can be slight differences, otherwise, they are the same. A powder company would never market powders with diffent characteristics under the same number because they'd be overwhelmed with lawsuits. They all are very careful to pay attention to this.

As a matter of intrest here is the ADI equivilent (Australian Defense Industries ) powders made here in Australia & marketed in the US by Hogdon powders

Ie Hogdon data can be used for ADI powders & visa versa ! This will probarly be of more use to Aussie shooters as we can only readily obtain ADI or winchester powders these days (though I have a sourse for IMR but it's not constant )
