Question Make your own bird shot?

Anyone here ever make their own bird shot?

I looked into one of those shaker table shot maker things and lost interest because I didn't want to spend $400 on an experiment.

~$45/25lbs for shot just takes the fun out of store bought shot.

I've been thinking about it CLAYT. What's really holding me back is lead availability. If I knew I could get a cheap endless supply, I might spring for the $400. I've been paying 39 for 25 pounds here and my boy is joining a sporting clays team. I'm not sure I can afford to have him shooting a few thousand loads a year...

Shot tower. Start a stream of molten lead from a height and drop it into a container of water. If you keep the stream flowing at a steady rate, you'll get consistently sized shot.
