Nope, gonna trim to 1.6" for 357 max
Ya' gotta be resourceful in these 'dark days'.
357 Rem max brass seems to be such an unobtainable commodity these days that I've decided to go around my elbow to get to my ankle!
.357 Remington maximum brass would be welcome !!! Honestly, It's Preferred !!!

I am reading in the Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions that there is no other factory case that will form to the dimensions of the .357MAX. Generally their advice is spot-on. Just curious as to where you were told you could make the cases out of 5.6x50R, base diameter is ok and you can maybe fudge the rim diameter a little, but the rim of the 5.6case is half the thickness of the Max's, enough I believe to prevent a firing pin strike on the primer. Let me know how your quest goes, I have a friend in a situation similar to yours.

The Guru hisself Bellm! You know Mike? Gave me clearance for the process ...It went like this:Question: Mike,
What is your opinion on the conversion and use of 5.6x50R (rimmed) brass to .357 Remington Maximum?
Answer: Expensive but highly doable if you have some.
Matter of fact, a couple of SHOT Shows back, I met with RWS at the SHOT Show and discussed that very thing with them as a possible source of Max. brass in the event nothing else developed. However, that year about 6 months after the show, we got an email from Nick Sache, head of the Remington brass mill, that they had done a run of brass. That staved off the shortage for awhile.
Versi,
I 'preciate your perspectives
thanks for lookin' out for your fellow shooters ....I dread the trim session for any quantities, tho ... might use a Dremel cut-off to take the lion's share of shoulder & neck

Thanks for the bump Gerald but I've about given up on locating the elusive European 5.6x50R brass. 'Spose it's all committed to all the drilling's owners
I'm stocked now on 357 max anyway. Started this thread over five years ago, man.
The 360 DW brass will get you through in a pinch. It's only 0.18" shorter. Just load 'em a little light
