Thread: Anybody using Trail Boss?

    Hello! I started doing some work with Trail Boss in bottle-neck cases in old military rifles. Here is one I loaded up on 8-27-05. Fired it in a German Model 88/05/14/38 Turk Conversion.

    8mm Mauser
    Lyman 323470 164 grain wheel weight gas check
    40/60 % Alox/Beeswax homemade lube
    9 grains (scale weight) Trail Boss
    R-P 9 1/2 Remington large rifle primer
    New (!) Herter's (Norma) casings
    Did not chronograph, 50 yard loading
    1.25 inch average for 3 shot groups at 50 yards from bench. Rifle barrel is like new.

    I noted this load to IMR and right after I did some work with rifle loads began on their site. Coincidence? We need more development such as this!

    Thanks for sharing Greg. I guess your load takes about half the space in the case?
    Did you notice if TrailBoss is position sensitive?

    I wonder about these new Herter's cases... my mail order dealer has some too , I'll ask him the story next time I call .
