    Hi Jason!

Are you going to use home or commercial casts... jacketed; are you looking for full power loads or plinking ?

For the 357, check how far the rifling starts from the case neck; accuracy should benefit from having the bullets almost touch it (this might raise pressure so start with starting loads and assess the situation from there).
In the 45/410 the bullet will have to jump anyways.
Also slug the (clean) barrels with soft lead bullets if you're going to use casts, you shouldn't shoot undersized lead bullets.

sorry, got to go...don't hesitate to ask questions

The 158gr JHP's that Toney mentioned are inexpensive and good performers. I load them for my Contender with 7.2gr of Unique and 6.gr of Bullseye. 158gr cast SWCHPGC's get 14.0gr of 2400 and 6.0gr of Bullseye. That ought to be enough to keep you busy for a while. Let us know how you make out.

The .357 will probably shoot most good bullets, cast or jacketed. Good luck with the .45/410. Most of the people I've heard comment on them couldn't get any accuracy from them as .45's. Some have given up and just used them as a 410 and got a straight .45 barrel for shooting with accuracy. After the novelty wore off some took them to gun shows and peddled them or used them for unbendable tent pegs.

The little shotgun barrels are still popular for potting the occasional partridge during deer season, but if you start firing one while deer hunting with others, you are not the most popular guy in camp. With a .45 in it, mine was just about accurate enough to hit my foot, but it would not group on target. As strictly shotguns, they are a lot of fun to shoot skeet with, and I have friends who love them (one of whom still owns and shoots the one I sold him about 20 years ago when, like lovesdogs said, it wouldn't shoot .45's ). With me, the only time I could break targets with it was when they hit the ground wrong and broke on impact. I am not the world's best shotgunner, even with a real shotgun, but I had a very forgiving dog. The fully rifled .45LC barrels are pretty good shooters and are usually very cast friendly, too. My favorite barrel to load for, hunt with, and target shoot is a .30carbine.

Well I didn't want to spook a beginner with details about the 45/410.... Now I've got to tell him that it's perfectly allright and that he'll just have to wildcat a few 444 Marlin, 303 british or 9,3x74 cases into 450 Mongos....

I read the 410 slugs are pretty good, a lot better than the 45lc
