I had the pleasure of harvesting a bison with my Howa 1500 in 30-06 this week. I made a one shot instant kill and just wanted share my experience! I was using a 165 grain Barnes Triple Shock over a max load of WIN 760, in R-P cases, with Winchester LR primers. Due to the bison's thick fur, you couldn't even see the entry wound. But while cleaning we discovered the lungs were gone and a massive blood pool in the chest area. The range was 80 yards. I couldn't find the exit hole, but it was getting dark and we didn't have much time to investigate. I was pleased to say the least!
