    Default load for 243

Is anyone shooting lead in a 243? Friend built a mold for a 100 grain bullet in 243. Gave me a handful to try in my old Herters U9. Believe it is a 1 in 10 twist. He's using them in a 6mm ppc so he doesn't have any loads for 243. I could use some help on this one.
    Thanks,

I found a VERY good load for my Rem 788 x 243--RCBS 95 grain SP atop 12.0 grains of 2400. Not a screamer, but it shoots very well and knocks the daylights out of varmints. I won an informal benchrest match with the critter about a year ago, windy day 10-shot group of 1.48". It has done at and under 1" @ 100, and seldom exceeds 1.25".

I do have jacketed bullets and loads for this rifle--someplace. They haven't seen use for some time.

Thanks Deputy Al, I've had real good luck with 2400 in 30-06. I'll give it a try in my 243.
    Thanks again

The RCBS Cast Bullet Manual shows 13.0 grains-15.0 grains of 2400 as their usage range with the 95 grain SP boolit.

    Good luck!

Follow-up......for the 2nd year running, I won the informal "Cast Boolit/Group" portion of the NCBS 2005 with a 5-shot group of 1.00" a few days ago. Wind and a hangover of about 6.0 on the Richter scale couldn't undo The Load's good effort.
