    I understand why massage therapy helps reduce anxiety and depression because human touch causes the brain to release oxytocin and serotonin (feel-good hormones) and reduce adrenaline and cortisol (stress hormones). This extends to other forms of positive touch as well. Still, the professional setting makes it safe and removes any social expectations of reciprocity, which makes it a good form of self-care, something that people with mental health issues often struggle with. Personally speaking, I have CPTSD, symptoms of which are anxiety and depression, and I find regular massage extremely beneficial. I go to this Asian place , and after every session, I feel better and more confident.
