    Lightbulb 30/30 Winchester

Last year I sold my springfield 22hornet/410 over under, and got myself a marlin model 336 for $200.00. I have shot it a lot and got really good with it, so good infact that last winter I was out hunting for rabbits (snow shoe hare). I found a pile of moose pellets that when the moose walked off she kicked the pile and spred them all over the place and after some time I had one cartridge left, and there was one moose pellet left. I did not shoot the last one because I did that one other time and on the way home I saw 3 rabbits and had no ammo, and was not going to let that happen again.

Any how, today I went out to the garage and found a box of my favorite boolits for that gun, a box of lyman 150gn luverin rngc @.311". when I got the boolit in the house I went straight to my old lyman 45th addition and looked up the 30/30 and that boolit. Got done setting the powder measurer and went to work loading some ammo and went across the road to the range and shot. WOW!!!!! Three touching at 40yards with irons???? NO WAY!!!!!!! YES WAY, and here is the load:

    PRIMER: REMINGTON L.R.
    POWDER:11.0gn OF IMR/sr/4756
    BOOLIT:LYMAN 150gn LUVERIN RNGC
    CASE:MISC 30/30
    LUBE:BULL SHOP SPEED GREEN
    FPS:1570
    OTHER:

My brother Tony went out with his 6.5X55 swide with a weaver 2*1/2* power scope and the 30/30 with iron shot better at the same range!!!!

    Daniel'

My favorite 30-30 load (has worked in every one I ever owned) Is Lyman's 31141 over 30 gr of Aac2520, CCI 200 primer. Never shot anything bigger than a Deer with it, but it worked right well. A new one I am working on now, is 8 gr of SR7625 and a Lee (special buy 6 banger) 160 TL PB. sometime when I get done hunting and getting ready for winter, I'll get a chance to test it.

    Cool

    krag35,
I think you're the first person I've seen who is testing the 30-160 TL! I'm interested in how it works for you in different rifles.

Once my garage is built (Spring, I HOPE), I'll have several mould/rifle combinations to wring out and that "plinker" round should be fun.

    Please post your results.
    Regards,

    WE

Maybe Sunday I had to drill and tap my 94 for a peep since I can't really see open sights anymore

I've had fantastic results from both 150 & 160 gn fN cast out of my CBE moulds. in my Trapper (30-30) I also have played around with a 120 gn rn designed for the .310 sized down to 309 ,for plinking loads for the 30-30 ! the 150 & 160's really ruin a Goats day !
