VERY nice work - a good lookin' piece !
I just put a new rear sight on one that I got for LOW $$ on GunBroker, and let me tell you - this thing is a shootin' fool ! Hi Points aint pretty, I know. Some people judge quality based on price...
Might be....
I'd keep the Red Dot in 38 specials. It is too dirty and fast burning for a 44.
I bought a few thousand of them - the magnum small pistol primers are a TINY bit cooler - you will have a smidgen of unburnt powder with max loads. The standard primers are fine. I am VERY pleased...
One night, as I sat in my recliner, I got to looking at the .40 S&W brass, and I said to myself "Self - that's just damn near a 44 caliber (.429) outside diameter." As it turns out, it is, in fact,...
Also bear in mind that the twist rate for your revolver is optimized for 125 to 158 grain bullets. Those 180's will spread more because they are not fully stabilized in that barrel.
I just had to come into this one.
First off, I absolutely LOVE shootin' the double-deuce. No worries about finding 49 out of 50 brass, who cares about split cases, and I've never had one...
CZ-52 Pistol (TECHNICALLY VZ-52) - Potent as all hell, accurate, and the BANG that it makes will scare the feces outta most anything. And, it'll punch clean holes in Class II body armor.
Sierra170 Gr JHC - 24.6 Grains H-110 (Lyman Manual - Under max. load but still plenty warm)
CCI-350 primed in an R-P Brass case. Veloc. appx. 1,700 FPS outta my 8 inch Dan Wesson.
Tends to liquefy...
Thanks for the inputs - I hope my reply is of use !
Just did a little workup on this wildcat for the Llama Super Comanche - single-shot .45 Colt / .410 shotshell. To be honest, I KNOW that this aint no T/C, and I am not going to be shooting benchrest...
KG -
Thanks for the info on the Mongo. I think for practicality's sake, I may just try it with 444 brass.
As far as the Tokie loads, the ones I ran across were on their (Alliant's) website...
Unrelated....
First - some time back - 14-18 months, maybe a tetch longer, Alliant Powder had some load data posted for the 7.62 x 25 Tok. round, and I believe that the data included Power Pistol....
I'd stick to the 85-90 grain as a max. Heavier would be too long - too deeply set, which means too much pressure - even in the TC. With Power Pistol powder, you can drive those little pills close...
