38 special case length
New to reloading
measuring 38 spcl case length without bullet. Spec says 1.155, if too long -trim to 1.149. Some cases too long and set aside for trimming. However, some cases are way too short. Eg, 1.141. I assume that these cases were previously trimmed too short.
Can find no info on what to do with cases that are too short. Do I throw them out or continue with reload as long as OAL is correct?
Thanks

The only real concern is if you are roll crimping, then you will have to adjust your die for the shorter cases. If you are using a Factory Crimp, you can ignore the difference. I can't remember ever trimming handgun cases in the 35years I've been loading them, but uniform lengths sure save a lot of hassle with a roll crimp.

uniformity is key.
it helps consistent roll crimps, bullet pull and jump to the cylinder throat.
i have had some 38's stretch but it was after about 30 or so loads.
i wouldn't get overly excited about short cases either as long as the load isn't a max one,and they are kept somewhat sorted so you can adjust the seater/crimp for them.
i have actually shortened cases before to work better in certain situations and have marked the base accordingly.
