Sierra 150 SBT, IMR 3031 49.5gr, CCI 200
Sierra 165 SBT, IMR 3031 46.1gr, CCI 200
These are loads I've had good results with in a Rem 700, for which they were originally worked up, then tried in a Sav 110, a Rem 7600, an old Win 70, and a DCM Garand, all with acceptable accuracy. I'll be playing with some 4064 in the Garand this spring and might even buy some CCI #64 primers if the spirit moves me in that direction.
Boolit testing is waiting for a bigger sizer, which I have ordered. Then I will be testing Lee 150FNGC's and Lee 180RNGC's and we'll see....

Welcome to the guide hubcap!!!
For big game I've been loading the 165 Speer SP BT with 58 IMR 4831, WLR primers, and Winchester cases for the most part. I do have some in a mix of cases, too. Should be ~2,750 fps according to the original manual.
I worked that load up in the early 90's and REALLY like it! Shoots into 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" out of my 1972 M70 Winchester.:)
HUH? Boolit indicates a cast projectile.
Shuck-e-darn if that aint the truth! And I plumb overlooked it! :-?Quote:

Welcome to the guide Ron!!!
I've had real good luck using 165 Speers & Hornadys with both H414 and H4350 powders and CCI 250 primers. For elk I go to 180 Hornadys or 180 Nosler Partitions, H4350 and CCI 250's. If it's something that'll bite back I'd go to a larger chunk o' lead, like my .45-70.
55 gr. Win. 760 150 gr mag-tip or corelokt.
