Hi there!
I'm wondering if there are any BFR shooters hanging out on this site. I've got a 10" .45/70 and a 6 1/2" .480/.475. There are other revolvers in the safe but these are my pets.

Just out of curiosity, how much does that .45-70 rig weigh?
It weighs 4.36 lbs according to the catalog so it's probably around 5 lbs. plus with scope and rings and bases. My .500 Smith X-frame with an Aimpoint red dot weighs about the same.
Let's face it, these are specialty revolvers, not hip holster "packables" in the 40 ounce range, although I have a few of those too. In a northern Wisc. deer stand, where a 100 yard shot is a long one, I feel quite well armed with a 400 gr. bullet lumbering along at 1300 to 1400 fps. Accuracy is outstanding with 1" to 1 1/2" groups at 50 yards off the bags and recoil is more pleasant than a 4" N-frame.
The numbers sure are impressive. While they're a little out of my price range, I do enjoy hearing about them. It would be interesting if they came out with one in .30-30 too. I did fire a Contender in .45-70, and while the recoil was noticable, it was still managable - I imagine your rig is even easier to control. Now if it had been a rifle in the same weight I'd have had two left hands after firing it. One of the mysteries of life....
As a matter of fact, they DO chamber the long cylinder BFR in .30-30 although I have no firsthand experience with one.Quote:

The link is www.magnumresearch.com. As far as being affordable, they can be found at around $800.00 or so. My dealer orders directly from MR in Minneapolis and I got mine for less than that.
As far as the net worth of a wife........I ain't touching that!
