I was just looking at the No. 444-X Pistol Champ press kit from CH/4D and wanted to get opinions from anyone that has used these machines.
It looks interesting, but at their price, I would be more likely to shell out half the money for a Lyman or RCBS turret press. As you probably already know, the turret presses use only one shell holder, and the turret containing the dies rotates. You only handle each case once (if you have the powder measure mounted on the turret). With the H press, you have to move each case individually to and from each station, which might save you a little time compared to using a single stage press, but is nowhere near the speed and efficiency of a good turret press. For that much money, you could get yourself a Dillon progressive and really fly.
If all you are going to do on the new press is hand gun calibers you can't beat a Dillon SDB progessive. They are simple to set up, and easy to use. It's for hand gun only though. If you want do rifles to then you need the Dillon 550B. Here's a link that will tell you all about the different models pro's and con's. Good Luck.
