I have a '94 (post '64) target rifle I had made up. It's a .30-30, 24-1/4" Numrich Arms bbl., Fajen stock & forend XX Fancy. The rear sight is a replica, while the front is a re-worked Sharps covered post.
When I got the front sight installed and took the first test shots, I found the round ball to be too large for holding well on targets. So I filed the top half of the ball off. This provides a thin post with what appears to be a "T" and makes for very fine shooting.
The best grouping has been with Sierra's 125gr JHPs over 27 grs of RE-7. 1/2" @ 100yds. Generally shoot 150gr FPGCs cast from a SAECO 4 hole mold for Cowboy Silhouette and general hunting/plinking.
Will post a pic when I can downsize it small enough.
