Hi, all. I just registered here on Gun Loads, and look forward to learning a few things. I have been a hunter for a long time, and I am just now getting set up to reload. I shoot a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser (1943 Husqvarna) that I've had for about 20 years, and recently acquired a Browning BLR in 358 Win. I plan to reload for both. I'm interested in developing loads for long-range shooting with the 6.5 (700-800 yds), and I'm eager to see what kind of range I can get out of the 358.
If any of you have experience loading for either of these cartridges, I'd love to hear about what you've found. Right now I have a supply of 140gr. Nosler Partitions for the Swede, and 250 gr. Hornady SP for the 358. I also have RL7 powder for the 358, and RL22 for the 6.5. These powders seemed to come up fairly often in the data I've seen.
My main goal is to develop really solid hunting loads. I love to shoot, but the purpose of my shooting is to become a better hunter, not simply to shoot. I hunt deer, elk, and moose.
Hi again, and take care.
