I went to Wal-Mart the other week and on a whim I bought some Nu Finish car polish. I ain't one to be doing too much to my truck, but I was wondering if this stuff is ammonia free so I can use it in my tumbler. I couldn't tell from the website, and my nose says there isn't any in it, but does anyone out there really know?

Stick a penny in the stuff and see if it turns green overnight. You can usually smell ammonia, even in small amounts. If there is still any doubt, rinse in a vinegar solution after tumbling.

Thanks, I'll try that. It smells a lot like the old Simonize liquid polish......

I put a drop of the polish on a penny as suggested.... it didn't clean it nor turn green, so it looks like it's good to go![smilie=w:

I have used it in the pass and it works just fine.

Thanks. My main gun shops are 50 miles or more away, and I just had surgery and can't travel or do much of anything, and really didn't want to spend any money at Midway..( believe that if you want to!)
