I will soon be taking delivery of a Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 in a caliber of 30-284W.

Has anyone got any suggestions or tips that would be helpful in starting to re-load for it.

I must point out that up until now the only re-loading I have done has been my 1858 Remington New Model Army .44!

Well if your read French you can look at http://www.tirmaillyforum.com/mildot/portal.php
you will have loads in Vectan and VV powders.
The forum is a mix of experience and other kinds of input, but if you have already spend any time on a shooting range you might be able to sort it out...

Also when you make a search there, allow for various possibilities, like 30-284, 30/284 etc....
And if the first answer you get when asking them a question is "topic already treated, make a search", remember that I told you it would happen and have a good laugh....:D

Seriously, look for problems related to the rechambering, feeding, specific bullets and powders, etc... as 30-284 rechambering is a common way to de-mil a rifle in France.

If you need any translation feel free to contact me here at reloaders with the thread number.

I do read French but not that well. I am lucky because there is a member of our club in Blaye that speaks good English. The deal is that I correct his English and he laughs at my French :)

Will check out this link. Thanks a lot.

Ah yes. I bought the 2 CD's whan I saw that they were 'closing down' because of problems. They are excellent CD's and worth every cent.
I did make some progress yesterday at the club. I was discussing this with my mate Alain and he uses Redding kit which he swears by. I downloaded their catalogue and have decided to go down that road, not least because Alain has said I am welcome to use his press etc and he will show me the ropes. Seems like a good deal to me.
Just waiting for the 'Beast' now!! Expected end of MAY.

Cheers
