I Get out about 3 to 4 times a week, don't really
shoot that much maybe a couple a times,
then i walk the hill.

Came down with bad diebetes about 2 1/2 years ago
so i've become a stumbling woods bum, it's just hard to
feel bad in the woods.

I know that feeling trust me ! I'm lucky enought to live on a large farm & not only have my own range right at the back door but We have the loacal pistol & shooting ranfge on the Property (about half a mile behind our place ) So I get to sight in & generaly Get the Kids out for a shot most days that I'm home .My major problem is that I've shot for a living for my entire working life & it's like bringing work home with me ! Mind you I've discovered Cowboy action & that has become a real realise for me! :-)

Well I know this is an old thread but a good question. If I don't get to the range at least every other Sunday I feel cheated. Some folks go to thearpy, I go shooting. Same effect but more fun.

Know exactly where your comming from there Hunter ! I shoot for a living . It' nice to get up to the range & know in the back of my mind that I can let a few off & it ain't important whether I miss ! It's great to just sit down with like minded people & burn some powder sometimes !

Spring, Summer and Fall at least once a week weather permitting. In the winter well it is usuakky time to climb the walls. Found a new hobby for in the winter other than reloading and casting and that is reading GOOD reloading and shooting magazines.
DOK what you got down under for good magazines?
In all honesty I have found 5 up here that I subscribe to, Handloader, Rifle, Alberta Game Warden, Western Canada and A News paper out of the Yukon mostly gun stuff for sale. (Damn can't remember the name of it.)
A lot of the stuff off the shelf that you buy are so hipped and full of B.S that they aren't worth the money.

We get a lot of the US publications down here as well as The Sporting Shooter & Guns Australia that I can think of ! Funny thing is you can go into most News agents & buy any amount of Pornography you like!! but man try & buy a Gun mag ! :coffee:

I guess it depends on what you'd rather spend most of your time shooting.

I try to go about once a week. I shoot anywhere's between 200 and 400rds. It's the only thing I enjoy doing outside my family. I am stuck in this house all week and it's my chance to raise a little cane. I take 2 to 4 ddifferent guns with me and have a ball. Wife says I am more charming if she gets me down there once a week and bear if she don't. It just don't always work out. (sigh)..

Baldy after 27 years I finally got my wife to go with me and she loved it. Pretty much anytime I want to go she is ready to come along it's great fun just to see someone 53 years old start shooting and get a kick out of it.

You are exactly correct. Some of out range trips turn out to be a social event as well. I have learned right much from the old timers that shoot at out range. Most of them been at it longer than I been in this world and know what they are talking about.
It is funny how this one hobby can bring so many folks together in real time and cyberspace.

When the weather cooperates I get out a couple of times a week. When it's cold enough to make my eyes water I usually sit at home by the fire. I have a range about 12 minutes from the house.

I have a 100 yard range on my land about 1/8 mile from the house. I usually get down to the range about 1 time per week.

This is a good topic I've been wondering about...am I an obsessive compulsive shooter or am I just about right...

I try to hit the range about 3 times a week since I started reloading. My 40 Sigma is still tough to shoot so I try to run about 50 rounds a trip through it at ten yards...even started counting my score on 25 yd. competition targets and keeping track of my score from trip to trip. I'm starting to work on my others at 15 yards...hopefully the 40'll catch up soon.

15 metre range on my place:-D Plenty of feral pigeons! I try to get out every weekend either at the range or in the bush. If work gets a bit quiet I can get out to the local range - 500 metres. Range is only 10 minutes out of town. Some of the good things about living in a small town I guess.

In a good month I get to the range every weekend. This is a bad month----only twice, if I can get there tomorrow.

Not nearly enough, but will be fixin' that when the weather breaks-time to teach the 11 y/o to shoot the handguns.

Once a week for me. I really envy you guys who live were you can shoot I'm about 45 minutes drive from the range and gas is burning me up. The good news is that in Georgia you can darn near shoot all year long. The range I go to has a hundred two hundred yard benches. The only problem is that it's a public range and everyone has to be doing the same thing if someones shooting handguns noone can shoot rifles at the hundred bench.

Try to make it once a week year round, if the temps are above 30 degrees, and below 80. It kind of crimps your time when is is down at the lower end and you hate to wear gloves, and on the high end when you hate to sweat. In the spring and early fall, try to get out a couple of times a week, and always book a couple of p-dog shoots for 2-3 days which to me is just like being at the range. If I had to guesstimate the number of times a year I am shooting and not counting it if I am hunting, would probably be in the ball park of 60 a year. Range is over 30 mi., so that crimps me a bit. If it were in the back yard, it would probably be 5 or so days a week if I could keep up with the reloading.

My range is my front porch. I live on 20 acres and have steel 7/8 inch swingers at 100, 200 and 260 yards that I've been shooting with our 45/70 and 521 gr cast bullets. It's nice not to have to drive to a range. I also own 400 acres 26 miles from here where I can shoot as far as I want to. We went up there the other day with several of my guns, Bushmaster Varminter .223, M1A .308, Shiloh Sharps 45/70 and a friend brought his Barrett 50 BMG. It was an interesting day except for putting out the fire when one of the guys shot a tracer down range with the Barrett. I was surprised at how little it kicked. Just 1 big BOOM!

My range is out my kitchen door, it is marked off, it is 1,500 feet to my backstop. So if I want to have some munchies and stay warm, I shoot from there.

I have taken many G' Hogs that way and 2 Coyotes.
