What ever happened to all of our "Global Warming?". The damned scientists had better duke it out todecide if I am warm or cold. I (fool that I am) always thought that ice meant it was cold out. Yaktrax again today. Last week I really thought that spring was here. It is even too cold for political posts. Boy I wish I could take a ten million dollar vacation (someplace warm) like Michelle. I would be happier I bet.

j1, they are claiming the cold weather down here is due to the warm weather in alaska.

Last year when we were in Alaska we were told that it was very dry and warm. A O K with me. I had a Gore Tex rain jacket and recall wearing it only once.

We never had much of a winter here. It only snowed in the valley three times. Looks like a long summer for me with the fire crews again. Oh well it keeps me in shape lol

You need snow? Send up a fleet of refrigerated semis and you can have all the dang snow you want. I could fill a half dozen easy with what's on top of my garden alone. Patented Guaranteed Yankee Deer Tracking Aid, just spread it around and it will show you game trails, etc. Temps above freezing voids the warranty though, so you gotta be quick if you use it in warm weather. You can't beat the price.....

Vers, in our basin (above us) the snow depth at this time of year should be 250 inches and it stands at around 35. Certain areas here get 400 to 500 inches of snow a year. We truly understand snow. It is needed for the runoff to the streams and rivers which supply water to the valley farms later. Without it the price of hay and alfalfa go thru the roof like it did a couple years ago here. Some alfalfa was fetching 350 dollars a ton and more. Send us the snow in January thru March and we are happy.

I hear that. This is a below average year for us snow-wise, but we're not going to be in dire straights unless the spring is a really dry one. Much of what should have been snow fell as rain and just rolled off the frozen ground, so it couldn't soak in and add to the groundwater. Most of what's on the ground has fallen in the last few weeks. And now that there is finally enough snow to ski on I'm sidelined, so I've got plenty of snow to spare if anyone wants to haul some.

We had more than our share of snow this year. Luckily the last 3 storms pushed just south of us or we would have had another 25-30" of snow.

Elkhunter, what is the usual (normal, not-budget-busting) price of alfalfa out there?

It was 125 a ton bale this fall. We had a good year and put up 200 for the winter.

It was an extremely cold winter. It is still quite cold right now. Not much snow though. Still have a four inch thick block of ice in front of my porch. I have to go in and out through the basement. Been chopping that ice for a long time.

Elk how many animals are you feeding? Never saw or handled alfalfa. It is mostly timothy, or timothy-clover for horses. I miss my horses but am glad that I do not have any more.

I have lived in south Texas for 15 years and this is the coldest that I have seen. Has not reached 60 (LOL) for the past 3 days. More heating days this winter than I want to admit. Should be 70-80 this time of the year. At least the spring rains have started.

Was a balmy 33 today with gusts to 40mph. Only 20 degrees below normal this week....

Still must be that global warming thing.

Golf this afternoon (finally) and just maybe a little trout fishing tomorrow. Nice at last.

I expected to play golf but the unending wind said no. No golf.

Just went for a short walk in the fields near the house and certain spots are all puddled up. Most of those fields are O K to walk. Heavy shoes but no boots.

Yea, hooray. First day of golf today in about six months, more or less. Played O K. Not great for six months off. Hit a few good drives and that felt good. Looks like rain now almost 8 P M. Gotta get it while I can. Gonna shoot tomorrow weather permitting. Life is good. :p

There is a 100 cartridge per day filling fee required and is strictly enforced.
Anyone found in violation will be promptly deported to the Connecticut or New York boarder!!!

Still looking for .22's? LOL I have thousands, well maybe an exaggeration by the power of 10 but I will bring some up with me. Now 100 rounds of .22 LR equals 1000 rounds of everything else. OK? See you soon. OH BTW I have been summoned to CT for a couple of days.

Mike, we were in San Antonio, at the Alamo, Mengher Hotel. About a year ago. Great city. The Alamo is very interesting also. Loved the riverwalk.
