I have the barrel, that needs some blueing...legnth 18 or 20 inch.
Dad has a home made high comb stock that I need to dig out the barrel channel a little bit.
And we have an action that we got for 50 bucks at a gun show.
I am going to build it for hunting bears in the mountians, and for some moose, and maybe some close range caribou.
Hope to have it done before April when we get mister grizzly, before he rips off my head!!!

AS much as I've never been a great Fan of the 444. I must admit using it through a box mag opens up a whole new world of possibilities so far as bullet design goes ! I reckon it will make a fine bush gun ! Keep us posted

Thanks Daniel (and dok). What bbl is that? What twist did you get?
http://www.leverguns.com/articles/fryxell/444marlin.htm
Another article in The Art of Bullet Casting says that you can get away with the 38" twist and 350gr bullets if they have a blunt nose, by opposition to a long unsupported one like in 45-70.
Paco Kelly (www.leverguns.com) likes that round a lot and used it in Africa I think; I'm going to put all the loads from his article in tables if you need some. His way to stabilize long slugs is to drive them faster ( in the Winchester Big Bore, not the Marlin...) :)
Do You know the pressure rating for your Enfield action?

Do You know the pressure rating for your Enfield action?
AS a matter of intrest if it's a #1 MkIII max pressure is 45000psi Max #1/2 Mk4 /Mk5
is 50000 psi due to the front locking bolt (the MkIII is a rear locking bolt ) So the .444 should come well within the limitations of the MkIII action
Dave
So Daniel, did Mr Enfield and Mr Grizz meet each other? You've been away for a long time.... :)
