Hi,i am brand new and this is first post.
I just had hand sugery, while in rehab i used a machine that had hot air and corncob media in it.i asked the tech how often they changed corncobs out;he said every six months .i asked him to save it for me and he handed me a large box(34lbs)saying they just had changed it.at home in my dillion i added two tablespoons of brasso and tumbled about 1300 .41 magnum cases,it was amazing how quickly they were cleaned!.
i am sure a lot of people have a rehab center near them(or have to visit one) and might find this info helpfull.i hope it helps someone save money.legend

Hi, legend!

What kind of .41 Mag do you have?
Hi i am sorry i forgot to check back on this one.how rude of me.
i owned three,a 45/8blackhawk,a 14in tc,and an 83/8 smith.however during a house fire my smith was stolen.the insurance people want me to pay 2000,(deductable after the fire),i contend the 250 deductable that was in place before the fire is still the rate to pay attention to not the 2000.who knows.
again i am sorry i did not answer you sooner.leigh

Legend-------------Brasso will destroy the 1300 rd you used to tumble it. Brasso keeps on eating at the brass until it is too soft to be safe. If I were you I would shoot that brass in the next year and destroy all you used brasso on.

I use dillion polishing compound when I've got it but you can use auto polish that is ammonia free. I just imagine that is what is in the brasso that eats the brass.

Just add a capful of NuFinish liquid car polish to your media every once in awhile. Works for me and it is cheaper than Dillon case cleaner. If smell means anything, they appear to be the same thing only Nufinsh is a lot cheaper.

Brasso does a good job polishing but it is evil stuff when combined with brass. The ammonia in Brasso gets into the "micro crevices" in the brass and can cause catastrophic failure. This was described in detail, complete with microscopic images of the damage in the American Rifleman several years ago. Bad stuff!!

It pays to know what is in a product before using it.

Hey glad to be of assistance. I think that idea and using Chor Boy 100% copper pads to clean lead out of my guns are the two best ideas I have picked up in my travels.
