Any one have a load for 357 Mag w/150 LSWC bullet (H&G 268). I have Unique, Blue dot and Red Dot powers. Mike

I've found that 6.5 to 7.3 grains of Unique shoot pretty well. Check you reloading manual but I think you can speed that up even more.

Hi Daveb, What reloading manual gives data for this bullet, I can't find one anywhere?

My notes from an old ('80s) Hornady manual give, for their 158 grains swaged bullet:

4.7/5.1/5.4/5.8/6.2/6.5grs of Unique for 850 to 1100fps, by 50fps increments.

This is what Alliant gave 10 years ago on line for their previous Unique formulation:

You can check http://www.alliantpowder.com/ in both regular and Cowboy sections.

I went to Alliant and they have no data even close to the 150 lswc I'm looking for but thanks for your effort. I sent an email to Ben at Alliant and asked him for data for the powders I have on hand. I'll come back with the information as soon as he responds.

Use data for 158gr bullets. You will find it in every decent loading manual and data source. Cast or jacketed doesn't matter for most handgun rounds. You can always safely use data for a slightly heavier bullet whenever you need to.

You are telling me that the same data for 357 Mag-158 LSWC is all right to load with the 150 LSWC bullet, is that correct?

I have an old ideal mold that throws almost the exact same bullet. I settled on 14 grs of 2400. It is very accurate, shows no leading, and shoots flatter than my 168 gr and 158 gr SWCs.
You really can use 158 gr data. Mold, alloy, gas check and lube can all affect the actual weight of a boolit- so a 5% weight varience is not woth worring about. Keep in mind to start low, and go up slow as far as loads. I started at 13.5 grs and topped out at 15 grs of 2400 , the 14 gr load was the most accurate.

The only powdwers I have on hand are Red Dot, Blue Dot, and Unique.

Yes. Rifle or handgun, you can always safely use data for a slightly heavier bullet.

OK, I just wanted to be sure and thanks for the info. We all know there are safety factors in this reloading business and I want to keep all the parts I was born with.

I went with Trail Boss (4.3Gr) and what kind of results have any of you had with it?
Good shooting, Mike
