What are your pet loads for hunting and target practice?

A pet load? I'm one of those that believes in shooting what I'll be hunting with. That said, A load of 29 grains of Lil' Gun with a 300 grain cast bullet is all that I want to pull a trigger on.

I'm still trying out lighter loads, but haven't come to any satisfaction yet.

For hunting I use 17 grains of lilgun and a 400 grain large metplate lead bullet. It's in the 45-70 range and will take down anything you run into. For target work and plinking I use light 45LC loads.

XTP's and lilgun, IMR4227 works well for me also. H110/296 did not agree with my FA83 4.75 MY best load to date is 33gr of lilgun and 240XTP 3.16 in. @ 25yds freehand. It does the trick for me. I have to ask is there anything better than the looks you get when your at the range and you unleash the beast?

I dunno, I stopped the show almost every time I fired my .480.....
"Whatcha got there, Mister?"
" A .480 Ruger."
"How big are those bullets?"
"400 grain cast bullets."
"Can I shoot it once?"
" Sure, go ahead. just hold on with both hands."[smilie=1:
"HOLY S#@T MISTER!"
"Wanna do it again?"
