I know it has to been asked before but I need some help. My buddy was given a 22-250. He bought some bullets, but I opened my mouth and told him to reload for the rifle to get the best from it. He will be hunting coyotes with it.

My questions all though long winded is this. He has 30-06 brass and I was wondering if it can be reformed to 22-250. I have heard that it can but have been unable to find the specific info on it. I need to know what the process is and if it requires special dies. Any help would be apreciated. I have load data for the rifle for the most part because I used to have one. would maybe save money to reform the brass. The man is like me always short on funds when it comes to shooting.

It can definetly be done. You normally fire form to blow a case out to size it down run it through the die required or a series of dies.
243 to 22-250 just run it through the 22-250 die.
308 use a 243 and then the 22-250 you will have to trim to length.
30-06 is longer so you will have to trim more off.

I am pizz poor at explaining, Sorry

The -06 case wouldn't be my first choice, but it could be done. It wouldn't be much fun setting the shoulder back that far.

Like kodiak suggested, the .308 family would be a lot easier. I would take the neck down in steps also. You may have to ream the neck if you use a .308, but not if you use a .260 or .243. Anneal the brass first if it is once fired, and anneal before fireforming.

as i recall the 22-250 is from the 250 savage.
i would definately work from the 243 not the 30-06.
they used to make a die set for forming from 0-6 it was 3 or so steps.
you could buy a lot of brass for the cost of the die set.
243 should be a straight through set up ,then trim, and as versifier said, an annealing would help this one do smoother.
