I reloaded my first batch (Im sooo proud) 38 spec. I used "Bullseye" 4.5 g
I want to try some 357 loads, and only have Bullseye and Clays for powder,
the Hornadays book doesnt list a load, any help, or should I not try.

Neither powder is really a good one for 357. I've never used Clays for anything. I do use a lot of Bullseye for 38 Special, 45 Auto and other low pressure rounds. I would recommend you step up to a medium to slow burning powder for your 357. Unique, Power Pistol, 2400; any thing in that range would be better for 357.
Good shooting!!!!
Thank you.... I kinda had that feeling, but its nice to get verification,
i use bullseye exclusively for both .38 spl and .357 magnum loads..... some folks do think you need a slower powder for .357 magnum but the bullseye has always worked good for me..... there is only a 6"barrel on the model 27 in which to burn the powder...... i have used 2400 but it takes at least twice as much to get the same velocity.............. i'm sure my loading info is on here somewhere but what use is 3-3.2 grs bullseye in .38 spl and 6-6.2 grs bullseye in .357 magnum cases with a homecast 150 gr lswc...... i did happen across some red dot that i may have to try in .357 loads..............
life is short.....
I went on line, because, its a long way to DSM for supplies, and I found that in somecharts Bullseye was used, so I started low. for the 357 loads, and went with 5.5 grms, and that worked great, with 125 gr lead and went with 6.5 for the 180 gr. critical defense bullets, they also seemed to work great,.... I did finally get the 2400, and your right, they want 12.2 grs for the same velosity.....
I know conservative seems to be the best approach...
thank you for the response,... where in Iowa are you.
