You must like punishment. A 300 - 350 gr. bullet would be MUCH kinder to your shoulder. As far as the load is concerned, just start with a recommendation from one of the better known reloading manuals, like Lyman, Lee, RCBS etc.

I dont see the benefit of slugs so so heavy. The recoil will basically turn it into a single shot cause your recovery time is going to be long..Sure you got penetration type weight but in a gun thats going to be driving it soooooo slow yer going to loose a lot of the penetration you got...I'd run that girl between 325 and 405 max. Anything in the mid to high 300's will kill quite well
I am not positive but I think I have heard that much over 405 gr wont cycle thru the Marlin action so you would be single shot. I have 405 grain and Ranch Dogs 350 grain, about all I shoot is the 350 grain. Besides If ya can't kill it with 350 grain ya better not shoot at it.
