I spent 3 hours at the range today. First, Dan I am serious about NM and my 308 Norma Mag is ready. Worked an old load up and got the same results as before, less than MOA and a couple of 2 holers; no Clayton, not misses. I bought an beat up Model 94 in 30 WCF. The bore was not bad, was not good. Open buckhorn sights. 67 year old eyes, 2" at 50 yards with V's 170 grain cast bullets. I worked up 4 loads and the IMR 4198 was better than RL 7 but not a whole lot.

The 308 NM was shot with 4 different brands of bullets of 180 grn over 70 grns of IMR 4831. Yes V, after 20 shots the shoulder did know that it had a day with the gorilla but no bruises. When I went back to the 30 WCF the recoil was nothing. Also no leading.

It was a great day even if the scope on the 450 Marlin has left the universe.

Try 3031 in the .30-30 with those bullets. You never know.

Mike, funny but how many will get it. I had a three holer as a smokehouse till a wind storm destroyed it. It worked quite well.
