    Question Is there any hope

I've got this old model 83 Marlin in 30-30. It had too much head space so when I fired rounds the brass stretched out way too much. It is fixed now. But now this brass will not chamber right and when I reload I have to apply way to much pressure to size it. So now I have a lot of brass in the scrap bucket. I've shot brass from another source and it works just fine. Is there any hope for this stretched brass or is it just scrap now?

Have you checked the length of that brass?
Do you have to apply excessive pressure every time you reload it?
Can you see what is wrong when you chamber it (try to blacken cases with a marker and just load and unload a couple in a clean chamber)?
How many is a lot in your corner of the woods ?

I suspect nasty marks around the case mouth...

Like they used to say in the kitchen, "When in doubt, throw it out." If it stretched out a lot, it was likely weakened, and it would be difficult to tell exactly where. .30-30 brass is easily had, so why take an unnecessary chance? Head separations are no fun.
