try using a gas check made from styrofoam. flair a case, drill out the primer hole big enough to get a small stick in it, then punch out the gas checks from a styrofoam meat tray you get at the grocery store, works great for me, and always a clean barrel, I shoot my 44's & 45 colt rounds hot with wheelweights, sometimes use lynotype

    Default mag checks

try using styrofoam gas checks. flair a case, drill out the primer hole so you can get a small stick in it to push out the checks, get a styrofoam meat tray from your grocery store, punch out the gas checks with the brass, when full empty them out , when loading set a styrofoam check on top of your powder charge & seat the bullet, works well for me at max velocities in 44 mag & 45 colt ( ruger s/a)
p.s: after firing you can pick up the checks out in front about 10 yards, they are smoked a little but still intact.
