that would be allright [some would say no]
i use a 7x57 with 139 gr hornady interlocks for elk.
the hornady does a very good job of penetrating and opening with modest velocitys.
within 300 yds a few hundred feet in velocity is really not that big of a deal.
a 150 at 2700 or a 174 at 2400 either will do the job.
i have shot a couple of deer with a 200 gr speer in my 8 mauser launched at 2,000 fps.
and a few more with cast boolits at the same velocity.
the only time i have seen velocity really matter is when you are trying to make a jacketed hollow point open.
