    Default Factory loads for M1

    Hey Guys, Can one use Winchester's 165 gr soft point ammo rated at 2800 fps in my M1 and not do damage to the operating rod? Mike

    federal is coming out with a loading specifically for the garand. with staked in primers.
    might be out now, worth looking for.

    I just load for mine with surp FMJ's or Sierra GK's over 4895 or surp4895 and don't worry about it. Same with my M1A. Why pay such high prices for factory ammo?

    4895 is finally being out and found it's such a versatile powder and is the only way to go in military cartridges.
    all of them.
    223,308 the x57's and the 0-6.
    especially in the semi's, but does excellent in the bolt guns too.
    it's the one powder i wouldn't do without.
    the rest are debatable but not 4895.
