h-450 defination

I have a full container {plastic} of "h 450" I can not find it on the Hodgen website,
I do not know its application-I cant find it in my old Hodgen manual either.

Does anybody know about this powder? was it dis-continued?

H450 is a powder with approximately the same burning rate as RL19 and N160, usually used in magnum rifle loads and in rounds like the 6.5 Swede. It is listed in several manuals I have, but I don't know any more about it than that.

HODGDON #26 (1992) lists it between their 4350 and 4831. #27 (1998 ) does not list it, so that gives you an idea of when production probably ended.

In #26 they say it was developed to give a spherical that would have similar performance as H-4831 but they do warn pretty strongly to follow data FOR IT closely, charge weights etc. will not be similar to H4831.

I tried some back when the #26 Manual was current, never really found the right combination. Still have a good part of that first can in the shop.

rl-19 is the closest iv'e came to it in burn rate and i have swiped h-450 data for weights in rl-19 when it first come out.
good medium case size powder should do well in the 0-8 and 0-6 family. with medium weight bullets.
