    Many thanks for that KG .I've owned a couple of Manlichers that had the hammer forged barrels & never really understood how it was done.

    The next mystery to solve is why the Roto 1911 hammer forged barrels are so soft and so sentitive to wear. (beware of $60 barrels; they come in 5, 6 and 7" length)

    My guess is that they skip the heat treatment needed by a 1911 bbl, I think Para-Ordnance treat theirs to 40-42 Rockwell...
