a 30-06 and a good 45 of some sort will do all you need.
    especially if you reload,
maybe a 22 for good measure.

I suppose all have their place and purpose. I own a 357 rifle and 2 hand guns in the same cal along with a 44 Mag. In most of my handgun loads, I stay in the med vol range as it is easier on the pocket book and my hand. I do load close to max in the long guns in these cals. As for belted mags, have a 7Rem and 375 H&H, which are both good rifles but don't get shot a lot. I shoot a lot of milsurps mostly with cast, and took a 7x57 to Africa and took 10 head of non dangerouw game with it. Took my 375 along as back up, and only shot it once to sight it in.
My bottom line is shoot what you can shoot well. If you can't shoot at least one of them satisfactorily you have problems.

Runfiverun why espacially if you reload ? I have an affinity for the uncommon and the oddball cals. the main reason I reload, save expence.

i was just saying they were all a person really needed.
i haven't ever seen an odd ball caliber some are just harder to get or make brass for.
like a 450 express magnum revolver i have.
i finally just turned the rims off 454 casull cases then trimmed them about 30 thou to make them.
guns aren't any fun if you can't shoot them, and if you have to have it made into something else just so you can shoot it ,what good is it?

Guns without ammo are just expensive clubs.

Unless you have a pig sticker on the end... then it can be an expensive spear to.

So if-en I only git one each and I am a re-loader.. I go with the Taurus 41 Mag Titanium 5 shot and a 41 Mag Marlin Carbine. With my molds I can tackle anything I am gonna see and I have to carry just the one ammo. The Marlin gives me 12 shots FAST and the Titanium 5 shot Taurus wieghts less than you can imagine. Easy to carry the both for the rest of my life daily if need be.

especially with a caliber like a 0-6 you can cover from 30-30 easily to upper 06 loads a lot of velocity there and bullet selection is all of them.
you only going to shoot up to 150 yds? and can only find a box of 150 or 170 rnose bullets no problem down load.
going moose hunting in open terrain? no problem a good 165 bonded or a 180 will do the trick.
need more? go to 200 grs.
wanna shoot rabbits, 100 grain 30 carbine bullets at 2300 or so will do just fine too.
same thing with the 45 with boolits from 160 up to 300 plus grains sure covers a lot of ground.

If you do not have a Hornet you need at least one.

I had a 300 Weatherby mag for about a year or so. Too noisey so I sold it. It did kill like the hammer of Thor though but can you kill a deer deader than dead? Am I knocking mags? Not really. My 30 06 has been my old buddy for a lot of years though.

I have regretted selling several guns, especially my 356 Winchester but I never regretted selling that Weatherby 300. Did not need it did not like it. Goodbye have a nice new home.
