Also makes a great patch lube.
Great find!
AL-8 was the best powder I ever used for the .44 Mag.
I reload for quite a few oddball calibers (11x59R Gras, 8x50R Siamese, 8x58RD, etc.) and have been quite pleased with Buffalo Arms brass.
I have had some serious problems with Bertram brass,...
Got mine, kind sir!
Toney,
Here's a guy with a few tips for the Steyr.

Toney,
What weight are the S&B bullets?
My 1895 Chilean shoots the heavier 175 gr. bullets much better than the 139 grainers.
One of my shootin' buddies bought one when they first came out. I don't recall any smokeless data in the manual but I'll ask him to make sure.
There was a quote a fellow used to have on a firearms board I was on years ago:
"What will become of the wild men of the world when the last Lee-Enfield wears out?"
So...do you have a Luger or not???
Mosko, I was all set to rebut you, then I realized you're probably right...I'm a sucker for old stuff that goes, "Boom"..
Well, probably not in my case.
I'm really not trying to amass a collection - I just have a technical interest in military firearms.
For instance, I have an Oberndorf Gewer 1898. I can examine...
7.62x39mm?
Added another Gew 88 to the stable...a Turkish 88/05/38. I've been looking for one of these for a while. I already have an unaltered Gew 88 and a Gew 88/05 modified to use stripper clips. The Gew...
The M44's are fun carbines, and a real "attention getter" at the range when you shoot the surplus heavy ball ammo.
Hi, legend!
What kind of .41 Mag do you have?
Sounds like a plan.
Now, if I could just find a way to locate the *&$#& ejected brass...
See, I do enjoy some of the more mindless tasks of reloading...swaging primer pockets, trimming cases, etc. The problem with lubing/sizing is that you have to pay just enough attention to the task...
I love casting.
It's the sizing and lubing I hate...
Anyone have any favorite loads for the above beast?
46.5 gr. IMR-4895 under a 165 gr. Hornady BTSP.
Shoots great in my Plain-Jane Savage 110.
Very much.
If I was ever limited to owning only one gun (God forbid!), it would be my Jackie Brown 20 ga. fowler.
I bought some Prvi partizan ammo for my 6.5 Carcano. Only shot OK, but the cost of the loaded ammo was less than my only other option at the time, Norma unprimed brass.
Toney,
Love C&R stuff - most fun-for-the-buck out there.
Right now I'm loading for:
- 1903 Springfield (.30-'06)
- 1898 Krag Carbine (.30-40 Krag)
- 2 Gew 1888's (8x57mm One .318 bore, one...
Although I have the dies and components, I haven't started loading for the CZ52 yet.
First, I was able to buy a large batch of surplus ammo cheaper than I can load it.
Second, the pistola...
