I use AA #2 in my .380's and AA #9 in my .357's. Both burn very cleanly so I have no reason to believe #5 or #7 will be any different. I also find that being a ball powder, they tend to meter better...

I personally don't have any knowledge of the O Ring idea, but you might want to try the NEF forum at Greybeard Outdoors. Lotsa knowledge there. The only other thing I can think of that will adversely...
My Lee factory crimp die arrived today and it wouldn't work on the short cases, so it looks like I'll be doing some machine work tomorrow. It shouldn't be too big of a deal.

I talked to a Hornady rep today and he told me their dies can handle the shorter length. Unfortunately my RCBS dies cannot; I tried to crimp a dummy round this evening and it didn't work. I suppose I...
I bought some LE .45-70 brass at a gun show yesterday, which I didn't realize until I got it home. It's .070" shorter than standard max specified length. I'm certain I can come up with a powder...
Kodiak,
I've seen those videos as well. It's usually some clown trying to play a joke on his girlfriend, or perhaps show her how much of a "man" he is. It's stupid, all it does is turn off forever a...
I know what she means. Some places will charge you five or six hundred bucks whether you get a pig or not, that's why I picked Wild Hog Ridge. If for some reason I didn't get one I'd only be out the...
The place I went is called Wild Hog Ridge in Columbia, La. They're just a little bit south of Monroe. www.lahoghunting.com
The owner's name is Jerry Bailey & he's a good guy. You'll get a pig if...
I got this little 85 lb porker yesterday.
I used a commercially made 158 gr cast RNFP on top of 13.5 gr AA#9. The gun was a Marlin 1894c in .357 magnum.
The bullet entered the head/neck just...
Carbide dies are definately the way to go. I'm also going to recommend you get a can of Hornady One Shot Case Lube. Case lube isn't required on carbide dies, but it'll greatly reduce your lever...
For a mild, easy shooting load in the .45-70 try 14 gr Trail Boss under a 300 or 350 gr bullet. Acurate and fun to shoot.

It's good to hear from another .380 loader, I load for my Bersa and my wife's Kel-Tec. I use 98 gr cast RNFP on top of 3 gr of AA#2 with CCI primers.
I haven't chrony'd the loads yet, maybe I'll...
Bullseye will work, as will AA#2 and probably #5. I've used Bullseye in .38 and
.357, and I've used #2 in .380, .38, and .357.
I don't know if .356 bullets will work in the .38 though. Obviously...
Intereting thoughts on mastering the Uni-Flow. However, I seriously doubt I'll load enough .45-70 to master the technique. The .45-70 I loaded for doesn't belong to me, it belongs to a co-worker who...
The 300 gr swaged bullets on top of 14 gr Trail Boss was quite pleasant to shoot. Very accurate, low recoil, and no leading.
That load is definately a keeper, I just wish the T.B. wasn't so hard to...
I started reloading so I could shoot more and develop some level of proficiency with my guns. Since hunting is all about shot placement, it makes sense to me that I should hunt with what I practice...
I had to cancel my range day due to inclement weather. I'll try again next weekend.

Will do.

Anybody ever use it? I'm looking to load some 300 gr swaged bullets and was wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom for me, or actual experience .

I couple of weeks ago I hit a 12" steel target at 200 yards bench shooting my Marlin .357 levergun with an 18.5" barrel and open sights. I could barely see the target and wouldn't have known I even...
I use a can of dust remover that is sold for cleaning computer keyboards to get the powder off my bench. Then I just vacuum. There's usually very little.

Tumbled brass is pretty, no doubt. But the other reasons I tumble brass is I find it easier to see cracks on a clean piece, and they seem to slide through the sizing die a bit easier. I also believe...
I've tumbled live ammo before, but I don't see myself doing it again. Seems redundant. It sure makes the rounds pretty though.
