Anyone out there got any good poop for a 7-30 waters, All of the reloading manuals i have only give reloading data for T/C barrels 10" 14" I have a T/C 21" carbine. I have so far reformed 30-30 cases and fire formed them using IMR 3031 30.5 with Sierria 120 SP. So now I have a couple of boxes of 7-30 I need to get some serious load data. I was was surprised at what printed on paper the results of the fire forming.
Less than 2" at 100 yds. So now what? will it get better. YES it will
From the data that I do have Can I assume that for every 4" of barrel the FPS will increase ie 7-30 data Lyman 47th Edition IMR 3031 30.5 gr T/C barrel 10" 1811 fps,14" barrel 2063 fps; that is a 252 fps increase over the 10" barrel. so a 18" barrel should have 2315 fps, etc for each 4" inch of barrel length.

bunnybuster when I reload 44 Mag and 357 Mag the loads in the carbine maual and the pistol manual (speer) are the same. Yes you will gain velocity with the longer barrel and you might be close with your theory of figuring.
Start with the loads given, chrony if you have one and then watch your brass as you work up your load.
I am in the process of gettin me a 14" 7-30 and can't wait to try it.
Let me know how you make out and what you fine.

Thanks Ken.
