I just converted my EAA Witness Elite Match from 40S&W to 10mm, and I'm courious if any of you have any good load recomendations for these components.

Winchester Brass
Winchester Primers
Copper Jacketed Hollow Point Bullets 180 GR.
Would like to keep the Veocity at or just below 1100 FPS at the muzzel

Thanks in advance.

I personnaly do not have a 10mm nor have I loaded for one that being said I think 9.2 gr. of HS-6 might be a good load for what your doing. That's a little lower than a load I got out of a hodgdon manual. Published load is 9.4 gr shooting at 1127. I think this would be a good load or at least a good place to start.

Thanks for your reply, At the present time I have my 10mm loads at 7.4 gns of HS-6 and acording to my new downloaded chart that is rated at 940 FPS using a 180 GR JHP.

I was looking at this for a Posible load:
180 GR JHP Winchester Case and Primer COL 1.260"
Hodgdon Titegroup Powder starting at 5.4 Grs. Starting Load
at 1051 FPS Muzzle Velocity

Max Load is 6.0 at 1141

This might be a good load to play with for starters. And it is within my range of Velocity.

That sounds like a pretty fast powder. I don't see why it wouldn't work unless you started having some feeding problems but I really doubt that. How's your accuracy with the hs-6 if it's resonable I would work that load up a bit and see how that works for you.

The Accuracy isn't bad but the HS-6 Burns Dirty, and I was hoping the Titegroup would be cleaner burnning.

It does real well in my 40 S&W, loaded to 940 FPS.

A little heavier load for that hs-6 might make it burn a little cleaner. I've never used tightgroup so I'm not sure how it would burn. If you have the powder then I'd give it a try.if your like me I'm to tight to buy a powder that I'm not sure it will work.

I just got back from the range, and the 10mm load with the HS-6 Powder felt real good, and shot a pretty nice group at 25 Feet, and I was able to keep all the shots on a 8 1/2" X 11" peice of Notebook paper at 25 Yards, so I'm not disapointed with it but I still intend to try the Titegroup as it does so very well in my 40S&W at 940 FPS, I really expect the 10mm to do as well at 1000-1100 FPS.

I had some other loads I tested for my 45 Colt but I don't have the spec's. up here at the computer I will have to post them later, the usual load was Clays Powder at 817 FPS with a Lead RNFP Bullet it was very comfortable to shoot and it was very accurate out of my Vaquero 4 5/8" barrel, the other two loads I shot today was a 250 Grn Hornady XTP Hollow point, and the Other was a 300 Grn, Hornady XTP Hollow point, Recipe later.

the titegroug will work in your 45 colt also about 6 gr will match your clays load
try the hodgdons web site for 10mm data.
titegroup should work okay in the 10mm but may have a bit of "snappy" recoil

Awesome kelly I'm glad things worked out for you. I like to experiment with my loads as well. I just loaded a fairly strange load for my .32 mag and I can't wait to try it out. tell me how that tightgroup works I might try something like that in my .45.

Already checked it out, Titegroup 5.4 starting at 1051 FPS, and goes to a Max Load of 6.0 gns at 1141.

With the Titegroup on the 45 Colt I would only gain 13 FPS with a Maximum Load over Clays which I already load at 5.1 Grains for 817 FPS Velocity. So there isn't much incentive there. My other loads I shot todayin the 45 colt were a pronounced difference but I would have to go down to the reloading room to get the spec's. and that wont happen unti tomarrow when I go down to sort my Brass and get things ready to reload.

you can take that titegroup up over 6.0
if your gun will take it [ i would have to check my #'s] but think i went up to
10 gr or so in the colt and 44 mag, with 250 gr boolits.
i then went to 800-x, then to 2400, and am at 1500 fps with cast at 8' from the
bbl of my 92.

aint gonna try it in my usfa's though

Well here is the deal You are going way beyond my controls as I said I'm looking for a good loading with exellent accuracy from between 1000, and 1150 FPS, this range doesn't punish my weapon or me. And remember this is an automatic not a wheel gun.
