Who cab help me ?
Can I form a 25-06 Rem brass from a 270 Win ? Or is it better to use a 30-06 brass ?

Its much easier to just resize the 30-06 as it is the parent round of the 25-06 You could probarly get away with using the 270 but you would have to trim the neck of the case back from 2.540 to 2.494

Thanks for the reply Dok.
I also tought that it was best from the 30-06, but a friend had a lot of 270 Win.
The 25-06 brass is hard to find in Belgium and very expensif.
Can he form the 25-06 out of 30-06 brass just and only with his full lenght resize die of the 25-06 ??

It can be done but I have way better luck if I neck the 30-06 down with a 270 Die first then run it through the 25-06 die. Seems like some brass will just cave in going from 30-06 to 25-06.

Flemish- I used to own a .25-06, and you can form brass from any of the '06 family, though I do agree with kodiak, when I tried to form from 308 directly to 257 I tended to grunt like a female hippo in labor and crushed more than one case. So I would either use the .270 brass, or run regular '06 through a .277 sizer before trying to neck it down any further. I've never tried it w/ 35 Whelen, though I'm sure someone has; of course if .25 brass is scarce and/or spendy, I'm sure Whelen is even more so. Trimming will always be a PITA, but unless your'e planning on doing 1000+ in one sitting it's not that bad. Hope this helps, welcome aboard.

Trimming .066 is relatively easy using the Lee case trimmer and an Vspeed electric drill (I use a cordless drill). Chamfer case neck while it's spinning. Done in seconds and a synthetic pot scrubber removes tarnish easily.

I do the same thing when forming 25-303 from .303 brass I use the 270 die first & then the 25 ! I've also found it adviseable to anneal the necks of the new formed brass as it improves case life ! The brass in the neck area tends to become very work hardened due to the sizing

Thanks a lot for all the replys !
I think we will try both, from the 30-06 and the 270 win.
From the 30-06 first to the 270 and then to the 25-06 seems logic.
