I been moly coating bullets for a few years now and just cleaned the 257 weath mag.The rifle loves the 115grn Bergers or 100grn SMK's and seen nothing but my moly coated bullets from day one other than a box of factory to break the barrel in.I clean this baby every 15 to 30 shots no matter what.Plugged the barrel and filled it up with KROIL and a few swipes with a brush and patch has it like brand new.No copper fouling and very little carbon.Might get to push a few rounds at 400 yards this weekend if its nice out.Barrels are funny and seems like this one does its best at number 3 shot to 20 for great accuracy. When I say great,i mean 1.5" or less at 400 yards and all other shots before or after 3 to 20 still smokes a three inch dot.I just think its best to keep it clean instead of letting fouling build up.

Moly fouling seems to go away very fast when cleaning with Kroil oil and a super smooth barrel helps more than anything.I will try to figure out pics on here and will post a few if I get to shoot at 400 yards. My range is 220 but that's no fun anymore.

Pickle answer a question for me, please.

Why is it only 223 and 22 Hornet which gat moly coated? I am sure there must be a good reason.

John I moly most everything from 223 to 338/378. It serves best with rifles that shoot a lot such as 223 and the Hornet. Hunting Rifles that only shoot a few times a year don't get maximum benefits from it.

Thanks for the analysis Mark. I knew there was some good reason why I did not moly everything. Man I just am waiting for spring with baited breath. 223, Hornet, 38 I am good to go. Now if it warms up just a little more.

I guess its what Mark said and why do you think that.I moly coat all bullets that are pushed hard and to be very honest,i don't know why I do it other than it keeps the copper fouling down a bit and really never seen that it makes the FPS higher and pressures lower like some claim unless you lap a good barrel to 1000 grit or more.

I think its what Mark said because most of the factory moly bullets are in cals that people run piles of rounds thru like the 223 and 308.Not sure and guessing.

Hey pickle sorry for waking you up. Catch a little cat nap. Hey you can tell me to go F myself. Just because I am old you certainly do NOT have to treat me with respect. You certainly do shoot more and at longer distances with smaller groups than I do.

Nope only 149 till next December. Gotta go exercise my Glock. Men I looked at Sigs this week. They really seem like nice guns. At least the triggers seem nice.

Hey RR there are no invitations printed so far. If you have something to say we are all waiting to hear it. Where is WARM? Florida probably.

No way, Hellrazor. I have it on good authority that he was born during the McKinley adminstration. Ain't that right, John?

Not even close to 100 yet but we did go to Alaska and saw the big griz. Trip of a lifetime. Not on a par with Oscars safari but real nice anyway. Denali rocks.

Do the initials F. D. R. mean anything to ya? Now J. F. K. Was my boy. I voted for him. Who is our president right now? Trying my damnedist to prevent this degenerating into an O mamma bashing post. That is masculine, I think. One more little pouty face and I may need a medical exam to positively ascertain present sex.
