Hello:

I'm looking for advice on loads for 357 Mag and 41Mag
I have an abundance of IMR 700X powder I need loading information so I can use this powder. powder is so expensive I don't want to buy powder when I'm sitting on so much of the 700.
I need a load for 357 158 gr cast bulet and load for 41Mag 170 gr. sierra.
I sure would apreciate some advice. please E-Mail me back on this.

What manual(s) do you have on hand?

700X is not an ideal powder for either round. It is at its best in light target loads with the lighter bullets, much like BEYE. Very few manuals have any mention of it at all for hotter loads with heavier bullets.

The only listing I could find for a cast 158 in .357mag is from IMR's website, 3.4 - 4.9grMAX. There are lots of listings for lighter bullets and even more for .38spec loads in all of my sources, though.

As to the .41 mag, much the same applies. Sierra doesan't even mention it, nor does Lee or Lyman. IMR's website mentions one load for that specific Sierra 170gr bullet, 8.4gr, as a MAX load. Not too promising.

I traded for a bunch of it a few years ago and have been using it mostly in .45ACP and some .38spec target loads. In none of the pistols or revolvers I've tried it in is it a favorite powder, but it does well enough for practice so I can use up what I have on hand. I suspect you'll have much the same results and will end up using most of it in your .357 with lighter target loads, too.
