Well the title says it all. I picked up a bunch of stuff from an an estate sale and I ended up with one 1/2 pound can of Alcan AL7 (appears unopened but I cannot be certain). Well my reloading manuals don't list this stuff and I can find very little info about it, except that some folks do lament it being discontinued.

What is it?

What do I do with it?

It seems a shame to work up a load with it since all I have is a half pound and I won't be getting more, but at the same time it seems a pity to destroy it too. (we will ignore the fact that I have no loading data for it yet.)

it's used in magnum shotshells and revolver loads.
6-7 grs in a 38 special and a 158 gr cast boolit
16-19 with a 200 gr cast in the 44 mag or14.5-18.5 with a 215
or 8-10 or 10-14 in a 45 colt with 255 gr boolits depending on your gun.
it seems to be a bit slower than herco and a bit faster than blue dot.
