That is a question you need to ask your revolvers. Odds are mine would prefer different charge levels, and you still have to work up from starting loads anyway for safety. If there were only one charge of RDOT that worked, they wouldn't publish tables for you to experiment within. You tell us what works best.

RDOT is not one of my favorite handgun powders. Most of my revolvers prefer other Alliant powders, but I do have one that shoots mid-range charges of RDOT with 158gr cast bullets reasonably accurately. It's always worth a try, especially these days when you can't be sure of getting your favorites when you want them. It is however an excellent powder for rifles when shooting reduced cast bullet loads if your revolvers don't like it.

after doing a little research i'm going to start with 5.5 grs of red dot for a .357 mag load with a 150 gr hard cast swc bullet........... i'm thinkin 3.2 grs of red dot might be a good .38 spl load with the same bullet.......

My Speer manual list 3.0 gr as the max load for a 148 gr hollow base wc, and 4.5 gr max for the bevel base wc. no listings for the 150 gr SWC. The 357 mag lists a 158 gr SWC, but no red dot there. My four other manuals don't list red dot at all for the 38 or 357.

i use 3.0-3.2 grs. of bullseye for 150 gr lswc in a .38 spl case to shoot in my mod 27 and 6-6.2 gr. of bullseye in a .357 magnum load with the same bullet and my s&w seems to like that real well....... red dot is a little slower shotgun powder but i did see the loads i listed in different data from different sources.... i have been too busy to get out and shoot anything this summer anyhow and all my cases are loaded.... i need to get out a shoot some so i can enjoy the other part of my shooting hobby.... reloading!!.....

Keep us posted. If you find one that works well I for one would be interested as I have about 3 partial cans of red dot that I need to get used up. (I do love a good estate sale, and honestly better to use it up than throw it out.)
