I am trying to work up a load for my 256win mag. I have a 117g round nose that I hope to work up a load for deer.
The only data I can find is limited to 60g, 75g and 87g bullets.

If someone out there has some old reloading manuals from the 60's I am hoping they would have more data.
If not, where would be a good place to locate some of the old manuals?

Thanks,
Ray

I have looked in my old manuals and they only show loadings to a 87gr. bullet. The oldest was published in 1961.

Thanks for looking.
I just jumped on these because they are RN and I have a Marlin lever.
These seem to be incompatable with the 256win mag.

Now I need to find someone who could use 200rds of 117gr Hornady RN bullets.

Thanks again,
Ray

any body with a roberts or a 25-35 could use them.
you could use the remington 86 gr's at midway

If the hornady 117 is loaded to the cannalure, it will exceed the overall length spec for the 256. You'd have to deep seat it and decrease the powder charge as a result. Even then I wonder if the standard twist would stabilize it.

Good afternoon Happy New Year !
My 1973 Lyman only shows the 90 gr....
Shows starting loads of 5 gr Unique 10gr 2400 11gr IMR4227
Me I would drop one grain and load. These look real mild to me....
I am using 8 grains Unique 220 grain 44-40 inmy 1892 Winny made in 1893 and there are no high pressure signs.
God Bless you through out this New Year !
